As the name suggests, the ability to use multiple cameras in rendering a single scene. This would enable features such as:

  • crude “bridges and balconies” (with certain limitations)
  • rendering much longer distances, allowing for much more convincing parallax effects for things like the view outside the ship in Tempus Irae
  • with further changes to the engine, a rough equivalent of a portal gun?

I’m sure Solra can elaborate in further detail.

Multicam comes in two parts:

  1. Rendering multiple cameras, allowing for some matte-like effects. This one is pretty easy.
  2. Stretch goal: Attaching additional cameras to individual sides or polygons, significantly streamlining certain matte effects (like bridges, balconies, overhangs). This will certainly be much harder and require much more careful planning.
