Lake identified as glacier in Russia #47

What is the date of the image above? The Mapbox imagery for this area in the GLIMS Glacier Viewer (https://www.glims.org/maps/glims) shows something that could be snow or ice, but I don't know the date of that image either. Maybe it was ice 22 years ago? |
Hi Bruce, it is possible by highly unlikely. I saw that image too with ice in it and it has all the tell tale signs of lake ice if you look more closely. If you need me to, I would be happy to dig more on this, perhaps seeing that a DEM is flat here would be persuasive? I am convinced this is a lake and should be removed from GLIMS. |
It's too late for the RGI - but GLIMS could delete it yes, for future versions... |
