Overview of the Feature Request
Send additionally some confirmation mail to the users who contacted dataverse owners ("contact" button on the dataverse level) or repository admins ("support" button on top) to inform them, that their message was successfully sent and reply will come soon.

What kind of user is the feature intended for?
(Example users roles: API User, Curator, Depositor, Guest, Superuser, Sysadmin)
All GUI users.

What inspired the request?
When users do not get any confirmation email and admins/owners do not answer in 1-2 days, users can start to think, that their message was not sent properly and they start to write additional mails to admins/owners directly, not via Dataverse.

What existing behavior do you want changed?
Currently (in my case v6.2) users can see only a graphical message, that their message was sent. It is good, but not fully enough.
grafik

Any brand new behavior do you want to add to Dataverse?
Additional confirmation mail to the user including the text of the message itself. It will help for the further communication, the user will have the original message then. The basic confirmation text can be similar to this one.

Any open or closed issues related to this feature request?

Are you thinking about creating a pull request for this feature?
no

This doesn't directly address your issue, but FWIW we do have https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/installation/config.html#dataverse-mail-cc-support-on-contact-email to cc support. The idea there was that the local Dataverse support team would be able to see that a request had been sent to a dataset contact and either confirm that the contact replies or send an email to the user about how to follow-up if they didn't get a response from the contact.

Right, we added that "message sent" in 6.2 in this PR:

However, as discussed in the issue the PR closed, we sort of knew we'd need to do more some day:

As noted there, there is a risk of spam, but yes, we should do something. Thanks for opening this issue @vkush.

Many thanks for your replies and links - I have found and added an open issue in the description above that is completely same to mine.

About a spam - a valid point, you are right. Maybe some disclaimer text at the beginning of the confirmation mail can help somehow, like "This message was created within a Dataverse repository "<:InstallationName>" using your email address. If this were not you, please ignore this mail and don't click any links below! ... <Text of the message>".
