My computer starts for a few seconds and then goes back to sleep. This happens whenever the PC is put to sleep by Lan. It does not happen when I put the device to sleep manually. There is never any display output during the short time it is powered on. The only way to get the computer to turn back on without going back to sleep is to shut the power supply off completely and restart it.

Which version of sleep-on-lan are you using ?
How are you sending it to sleep ? (with REST commands or with magic packets)
What is your sleep-on-lan configuration, especially the one about having a delay before sending to sleep, as shown in the README.md

  "AvoidDualUDPSending" : {
          "Active": true,
          "Delay": "100ms"
  },

If low value, try increasing it.

If this is the same cause, the issue with dual or multiple udp sending is discussed and fixed here and here
