As the title asks - what happened to Streisand?

It was abandoned by the devs and since Ubuntu 16.04 is now EOL, it's now archived

Why not continue this great project on the next Ubuntu release?

From my understanding after communicating to one of the maintainers was that they didn't want to continue maintaining it which is why it's now in an archived state.

The truth is that this is volunteer work and sometimes people don't have the time/don't want to continue working on it anymore.
