If you look at the old versions of the course notes you can see they are all over the map in how you navigate. The MDWiki has a built in nav bar, and you can add level-2 headngs and make them show up as a sidebar, However neither of these feels natural to me.

It would be cool if we could add some simple Javascript to the MDWiki itself and then use it the same way everywhere to cut down on the boilerplate. I just don't know how to approach it...

The Unity docs have a solid approach - "back - next" links on each page supported by the sidebar index.
