Although, I'm not a fun of using romaji, some people doesn't have Japanese keyboard.

So:

Either, we let the user input furigana; then we transform to hiragana before search
Or, we create an input method editor (IME) which transform to hiragana in real time and even search in the database (this late can cause the software to be heavy).
