How to setup a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro Hub as a Router/Repeater

Hi,

I've done a lot of research into this but haven't been successful with setting up a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro Hub as a Repeater/Router. I have a large Zigbee Network and intend to make a large scale network where my spare Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro Hubs can be used to make my network a bit stronger.

I have 3x Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro Hubs running Tasmota [13.3.0.2(zbbrdgpro)].

  • ITead “SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro” (ZBBridge-P) new CC2652P and ESP32 based Zigbee Gateway to WiFi Bridge #14419
• Flashed Sonoff Hubs with Tasmota
• Flashed with Tasmota Zigbee Bridge Pro Firmware
• Resized the FS Partition to 832 KBs using Partition Manager
• Copied the following: SonoffZBPro Router HEX; Sonoff ZBPro Flasher; CC2652 Flasher; IntelHex
• Changed the Tasmota Template:
  • {"NAME":"Sonoff Zigbee Pro","GPIO":[0, 0, 576, 0, 480, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 5792, 0, 0, 0, 3552, 0, 320, 5793, 3584, 0, 640, 608, 32, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 ],"FLAG":0,"BASE":1}
• - Installed the HEX Firmware using
  • import sonoff_zb_pro_flasher as cc
  • cc.load("SonoffZBPro_router_20220125.hex")
  • cc.check()
  • cc.flash()

Sadly I am now unable to connect it to Zigbee2MQTT and I am unable to Pair it. I've opened up this Q&A for a simplistic and minimalist guide for myself and other :)

After flashing a device as a router/repeater, it is only visible on the Zigbee mesh network, you cannot connect it to Zigbee2MQTT or do any pairing. Ideally, it should improve the mesh by providing additional routing opportunities. This is normal and expected. The Tasmota side also loses any connection to Zigbee operation, but you could use it for other purposes.

I had a ZB pro running under Tasmota for two years but decided to convert it to a Bridge after buying Home Assistant Yellow which has integral Zigbee co-ordinator. As I had more-or-less forgotten my earlier Tasmota experience, I needed to scratch my head in the later part of your method statement and suggest a couple of tweaks to the procedure description:
Installed all the downloaded files using the File Manager utility.
Run these four lines of code in the Berry console to activate the HEX Firmware

import sonoff_zb_pro_flasher as cc
cc.load("SonoffZBPro_router_20220125.hex")
cc.check()
cc.flash()

Wait 5-10 minutes for the device to restart.
