Creating a Study

Start at the portal home page.

Visit the site here

If you have not already, log in.

Log in with your google account credentials.

After log in, add a study

After log in, you will be able to view your studies and add new ones. In the upper right corner, click on your user name and then click on "+ Add a Study".

Name the study

Give your study a name, this will be how people refer to and identify your study in the portal.

Set data embargo if needed

Select a time in the calendar after when data associated with the study can be downloaded. This is not a required step. Private data is always private, no matter embargo status. This only affects public data.

Set study permissions

Indicate if the study is private (only seen by the study owner and collaborators with permission) or public (seen by all).

Study FireCloud workspace

If you are creating a new study from scratch, leave this set to 'No'. However, if you have an existing FireCloud workspace that already has data, you can use it with this study by selecting 'Yes' and then entering the name of the workspace in the provided field. NOTE: The workspace must be in the 'single-cell-portal' FireCloud project to be used with the portal.

Describe the study

The description will be prominent on the portal and will be the main way to communicate to others the context and design of your study. You are welcome to add your abstract, pictures, links or other items to create a rich description of your science.
