Welcome, and thanks for suggesting this data source! The business license database contains a few pieces of information on each business that will be useful to us:
Business name
Address
Phone number
Website
Additionally, the start dates would enable us to add these businesses to OpenHistoricalMap at the same time.
In order for us to import this information, we would need to geocode the addresses to coordinates. We could use the same geocoder we used for the social distancing protocols in #23. (This would be a good opportunity to seek out any address data from Milpitas that we could import in parallel.)
The businesses are categorized into business types that are similar to the ones in the social distancing protocol database. This would enable us to break the import down into multiple challenges, but we would still need to use MapRoulette rather than a more automated workflow, because the categories don’t correspond one-to-one with OSM tags.

Here are the business licenses for City of Milpitas.
If the license is filed for year 2023, it is a pretty good bet that the business is operating and the information on file is likely to be recent.
This would make a good public data source we can import from.
Can this be made into a Map Roulette challenge ?
