Feature: Add separate thumbnail/icon settings for files and folders

What feature or improvement do you think would benefit Files?

The only reason I am looking for an alternative to windows file manager is that when you change the default file icon, in order to see the custom icon you have to turn on "always show icons never folders" in explorer options.

The problem is that I then lose all thumbnail pics.

So an option to still be able to see thumbs when you have changed the default windows folder icon globally would be a very hand thing.

Thanks for the feedback, Do you mean you want to show only the folder icon but keep image files thumbnails?

Hi, thanks for responding. Just to be clear - please see these images: Note that Directory Opus can do it [by turning off Preferences / File Display Modes / Thumbnails / Folders / Display thumbnails for folders] by but its ridiculously expensive when this it literally the only reason I am looking for a 3rd party file manager.

I like the use case, but I'd like to see some more interest from users before turning this into a setting.
