There needs to be a way to migrate data in Firestore to different shapes or different collections along with upgrades to the app. It should have a list of migrations and they will be run through in order and be applied if needed.

Some potential options:

  • Script people run after they deploy
  • migration function that runs in the background. it could be triggered by change to /config/migration document change or a change to a Remote Config change.
