The app isn't really designed with being copied over to another device like this in mind. Ideally you'd clear its data for a fresh start, but something you can try is pulling down twice on the timeline for a hard refresh. |

Thanks! This got the thumbnails to work, but opening the videos now causes the app to crash. Any suggestions on what to do for this? |

I think it's trying to load a local video file that doesn't exist |

Hmm, it probably should, but maybe something else in the state is off . Ok, so the best course of action is probably to reset app data and do another full resync to get things properly sorted out? Is there any chance for the app to detect being copied to another device and re-initialize the relevant states automatically? I'm probably not the only one running into this. |

The bug
I had an old phone with Immich backing up all camera photos.
I migrated to another Android Phone, copying over old data (using the migration wizard).
I started Immich on the new phone, which preserved its settings, and let it do its first sync.
It obviously skipped over most media, as it already exists on the remote side.
Now however all pictures that were previously on the old phone too only show an exclamation mark and blurry thumbnail. Same happens when I open a picture - it doesn't load.
"New" images (taken with the new phone) are properly shown.
Ticking "Prefer remote images" in the troubleshooting section does work around the problem, but as soon as I uncheck it it doesn't show thumbnails again.
Note the setitngs screen also shows 7608 Duplicated Assets, I didn't try cleaning it though (as the upload took a long time last time) and I'd assume it'll do this again.

I assume there's something wrong with the way already uploaded media gets linked to local files.
