Public proofs in two places now being flagged as broken-- but aren't #4264

I've been getting emails that both the Twitter/X and the reddit proofs "just broke".
Some differences between app and web front end: app shows it connects to Twitter/X just fine, web site account says not. Reddit profile on both also states as "unreachable" yet clicking on the item takes you directly to the public post on both. This is new today, so unclear if there are issues at their end.

I'm seeing the same thing; both Twitter/X and reddit proofs are "broke". 🤷

I got an email that my reddit proof broke (but no such email about Twitter/X).

I tried to run the keybase app (on MacOS) but it keeps saying "We're having a hard time loading this page". There are some details (which, frustratingly, I cannot copy to the clipboard); they say something about an X509 certificate being "signed by unknown authority".

My Reddit proof just broke too, despite being up and publicly accessible (here). This kind of smells like an API issue as both Reddit and X have been known to jack up API pricing and impose insane limits on API usage lately. Hope Keybase devs can figure this out... :\

Also told my Reddit proof broke. But it's still here: https://www.reddit.com/r/KeybaseProofs/comments/4d8e3n/my_keybase_proof_redditpedahzur_keybasejkugler/

The same.
The proof on its place, but keybase didn't see this.

@shaneo257 relink meaning you created a new proof? If that's the case then it's definitely an issue in the Keybase backend.

I think there's a high likelihood Reddit chose to break this, FWIW. Both Twitter and Reddit have moved to retire third party app and API support in favor of charging money for access to their data for AI training, it's unlikely something like Keybase wants to pay for that integration.

If you look at the HTTP response codes you'll find that Reddit is intentionally returning a 403 response code of access forbidden. Reddit is intentionally breaking these proofs.

You can verify this yourself by opening a command line and typing keybase id and looking at the output of the broken reddit proof.
