I just wanted to track this in here. Here is what I hope to do:

I'd like to plan to publish Release 1.8.0 by the end of this year. I realize that lots of people are on vacation, but for me since actual work is very slow I have the most time.

Between now and then, I'd like to only merge PRs to master that should be in the release. IMO that should be:

  • Bugs and regressions from old releases
  • Cleanup since it's a more major release than others we have done before

IMO we should NOT add any major new language features until the new year.

Thanks to everyone for contributing and thanks for all the hard work!

Created a draft release -- please take a look -- I won't publish for a day or so!

Folks, this is going terribly. Since we have never published this multi-module project to Maven Central I'm having to learn lots more about Gradle and Maven and GPG that I thought I had all automated years ago. I am leaving on a trip for a few days and will not be able to publish this release until mid-next-week.

In the meantime I am leaving the state of the repository in "release mode" with the version set to "1.8.0" for a bit, and not merging PRs until either we can figure this out or decide later in the week that we will need more time to regroup and debug Gradle. Thanks for your patience.

Crisis averted and everything figured out -- enjoy the new release and keep on contributing!
