Does weblate enable auto fix?

I'm talking about this string: https://hosted.weblate.org/translate/mumble/mumble-client/zh_Hans/?checksum=c095acfb2423b8e9

The source is m which is a unit, it will be displayed like 50m. In modern Chinese UI design, we prefer to add a space between ASCII and non-ASCII characters to make it prettier, such as 50 米. So the only option for me is translating it to " 米" (with a prefix space).

I cannot add prefix space to this string, weblate is always applying an auto fix to it when I'm saving, thus the translation is changed to 米 without space.

There were some other checks that supposed to fail since they were not making any sense, but I was able to skip them after saving.

Each line of the source should have some spaces, but weblate only shows one.

Hm I actually don't know. I just checked but I could not find anything related in the settings...

For your first example though: The unit's label is displayed behind a SpinBox anyways, so there's no need (imo) to add an extra space. For the second example though the matter is of course different...

@deluxghost it seems that Weblate only displayes multiple spaces at the beginning of a source text as a single space. When you overtake the text into the translation, you'll see the expanded spaces. At least that is what I just found out by trying

What’s the source string for that?

I feel like this should be handled as a different source string. number + unit formatting should be handled together, with locale settings or a combined string.

I can’t find m" in our sources, and not in AudioOutput specifically.

RTL means right to left. When the writing order switches from left to right to right to left this can have implications on controls and layouting; especially if they correlate to one another.

Ah okay I see. I just found https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qspinbox.html#suffix-prop which should allow use to display the unit directly inside the spinbox. That should then also take care of RTL, shouldn't it? 🤔

The best approach in this is to use a formatting string in the source string. That way the translator can easily see how the string will be used. Without that additional investigation has to be done to understand whether it is appended to the number, with space or without that, or whether that is a text inside some control, where no additional whitespace is needed. Based on the previous discussion, the last option is actually the case here, so the whitespace is probably not really desired...
