Migration with Shared Steps and Shared Parameters

Hello everyone, I have 2 questions to ask - firstly, has someone figured out how to migrate shared steps with the links to test cases with the help of this tool as I have some shared steps with roughly 500 test cases linked to them or is it still not possible with the help of this tool as even with export and import options the linked test cases don't migrate and secondly is there any way to migrate dashboards. Thank you in advance for the answer.

Yup... but its not fun...

If you have a small setup, you can run the whole thing with Microsoft.VSTS.Build.IntegrationBuild as the ReflectedWorkItemIDFieldName, a field that is on every work item and uses "WIQLQueryBit": "AND [System.WorkItemType] NOT IN ('Test Suite', 'Test Plan','Feedback Request')" to migrate everything....

If its a bigger migration you may need to do multiple runs:

1. Run the WorkItemMigrationContext processor with NOT IN ('Test Suite', 'Test Plan','Shared Steps','Shared Parameter','Feedback Request')
2. Run the WorkItemUpdate processor IN ('Test Case') and a FieldtoFieldMapConfig to copy the original runs ReflectedWorkItemId field data to Microsoft.VSTS.Build.IntegrationBuild
3. Run the WorkItemMigrationContext processor with IN ('Test Case', 'Shared Steps','Shared Parameter') with the ReflectedWorkItemId field set to Microsoft.VSTS.Build.IntegrationBuild <-- this is where all the magic happens to fix the internal links
4. Then you can run TestVariablesMigrationConfig, TestConfigurationsMigrationConfig, and TestPlansAndSuitesMigrationConfig

There is no WIQLQueryBit any more. You should have had notification in the tool that the config should be recreated due toa major change. All the docs should reflect this.

Thanks, I guess all the discussions/issues and official documentation I've read over the last 2 days have run together. I'm new to to the tool and couldn't make much progress until I pulled the source and ran from VS so I could step through, but it's starting to make sense. Does the process I outlined above look correct? And am I correct in understanding that only step 2 should have the FieldMaps?

Does that mean I don't move Shared Steps/Params with ReflectedWorkItemId at all?

Correct, its not possible to add custom fields to Shared Steps or Paramiters!

It seems like I'm so close; the Test plans/suites/cases are all there, and when I click on a test case my newly-copied shared steps are linked. The only problem is in the Test Case's Steps section, the shared steps are blank. I'm thinking those are still linked to the shared steps from the old project. Note steps 7, 9, 11, and 12. Is there a way to automate fixing those, or is that just something that needs to be done manually?
