Describe the issue

Positions with too many pieces crash Stockfish 16 (POPCNT) on Linux. These positions work fine on the equivalent Windows version.

Expected behavior

Stockfish behaves the same between operating systems.

Steps to reproduce

uci

*** stack smashing detected ***: terminated
Aborted (core dumped)

On Windows, the engine behaves normally:

stop

Hi,

Not really an issue.
Stockfish is only designed to function properly on real chess positions and with #4563 we might soon reject those fens completely.
