Batch Span Processor not flushing on page close or reload

The Batch span processor for browser is supposed to flush and export traces in buffer when a page is hidden, closed or reloaded. I was able to test and check that it works when the tab is hidden by selecting another tab or minimizing the browser window. But it doesn't work when the tab is closed or refreshed.

Can you tell me where that's documented? The code seems pretty clearly to only refer to visibility and hiding

Ok, I just thought it is expected to do that . But if it is not designed that way then can we have the page close and reload flush the data as a new feature or is there a reason to avoid that ?
