Keyoxide allows you to prove "ownership" of accounts on websites, domain names, IM, etc., regardless of your username.

That last part is important: You could, for example, be alice on Lobste.rs, but @alice24 on Twitter. And if your website is thatcoder.tld, how are people supposed to know that all that online property is yours?

I know the developer, and think that Keyoxide is a really neat project. Would be interested to hear your thoughts @privacyguides/team

I find it to be cryptographic version of Indieweb's rel=me and I don't know where it would fit in PrivacyGuides based on quick glance at the website.

And then may be merge in more options supporting DIDs (decentralised identities), as they're proposed.

What is the connection between identity management and privacy?

If more apps supported DIDs (and independent identity management), apps wouldn't need to OAuth Gmail, GitHub, Facebook accounts. Instead, they could rely on identity management software such as KeyOxide or DIDs. Plus, ID management like KeyOxide and Keybase make PGP digestible for many. Though, folks should use MLS compliant or equivalent apps like Signal instead.

Whatever Password Managers have to do with privacy aka Stay safe and secure online with an encrypted and open-source password manager, a similar thing with IDs (imo, of course).
