Type: hybrid workshop — virtual and in-person at [Moos](https://moos.space/about/) in Berlin
Length*: 4 hours (presentation + co-writing session, IRL and broadcast virtually)
Date: November 20 (Sunday)
Language: English
Frequency: Once
Description:
Beth is a steward of the Solarpunk Residency Programme at Moos, a collective space for radical experimentation in living, making, healing and dreaming of futures in Berlin. Klaus is a steward of the Solarpunk Incubator and facilitator of regenerative community patterns and practices. Alessandro and Hushpreet are joining for 2 weeks of the Residency Programme, in which we intend to engage in participatory speculative fiction through the lens of the Our Networks write-athon.
As representatives of [Toucan Protocol](https://toucan.earth/overview) (Beth), [Sovereign Nature Initiative](https://sovereignnature.com/) (Alessandro), the [Turing Institute](https://www.turing.ac.uk/) (Hushpreet), and [Hack Humanity](https://www.hackhumanity.com) (Klaus), all of us are deeply and tangibly engaged in creating the rails for a decentralized, climate-positive and ethically-powered future to emerge. In our day to day professional practice, this looks like funding mechanisms, technical infrastructure, rigorous research and intentional community building. This groundwork-laying is fulfilling because of the future that we believe we're making possible, and we are delighted by the possibility of imagining what a conference - far into the future - looking back on our work as foundational and future-altering might involve.
We're excited by the idea of "conference presentation” (and performance?) as a medium that's both edifying and humorous — what would the diagrams, anecdotes, charts and retrospectives look like that cover the failures, successes and learnings over the unfolding 50 years? What can imagining future versions of ourselves referencing our current work reveal about our current naivety and audacity? We hope to explore all of these subjects in co-writing exercises for the 2 week duration that we'll join in the Moos Solarpunk Residency, and bring them together in a day of writing, reflecting and imagining together over the course of 20 November.
Presenter(s) - 2047
📣 *Please Note: This could be yourself in 2047 or a character you've created.
I suppose we'll all have different identities by then and Twitter will be long gone after Elon Musk implodes it but for now…*
I am a curious human who's passionate about the human mind, culture, 'nature', technology, and all things that relate, sit within, and in between those terms.
I am currently committed to the Sovereign Nature Initiative, where I help with partnership development and field research to support the design and development of technology that serves both human and non-human interests. My current focus is on exploring the use of emerging technology in community-led wildlife conservation in Kenya.
Beth McCarthy
Beth is a Berlin-based strategist and experince designer working in ecosystem & culture at Toucan by day & the collective organization and decentralized governance space by night (recently Moos, Dept. of Decentralization and Trust). Beth is passionate about the lunarpunk future of web3 and enjoys geeking out at the intersection of art, philosophy, law and computational systems of behavior.
Hushpreet Dhaliwal
Working on innovation pipeline. Fundraiser / go-to-market focus, with an interest in providing the wrapper and machinery for great ideas to flourish. Interested in large scale funding mechanisms - what could we do with $50m? - as a lens to understand what we need for significant change, as well as initiatives that diverge (or consolidate efforts) from existing ecosystem pursue new high impact approaches.
Klaus Bravenboer
Founder of Hack Humanity.
We exist to coordinate, curate and facilitate bringing talent, technology and innovation practices together to solve our biggest challenges. Regeneration of our relationship with and as nature lives at the heart of everything we build.
Activating a movement for interspecies teamwork.
