Yes, the project is active, development of version 3 is done in branch branch wip3. |

Please note that it is still under heavy development, it hasn't reached a state where it is not ready to be used yet. There is still plenty of work to do. Use it at your own risk then! |

Would you suggest installing 2.x until 3 is in a more stable state? I tried installing 2.x but was having trouble with node-opentypejs on ubuntu 20.04. |

For the moment, 2.x is more in shape for real world usage (it is deployed in production by some people) but, as you already found out, it is rather difficult to install with all its dependencies. |
