annotations not working

I am new to materials. I have just tried most of the examples in the Reference part (in "https://squidfunk.github.io/mkdocs-material/reference/).

they worked fine but for some reason the annotation does not work with me.

This is my index.md file:

1.  :man_raising_hand: I'm an annotation! I can contain `code`, __formatted
    text__, images, ... basically anything that can be expressed in Markdown.

this is my mkdocs.ymlf file:

Other details:

Python version 3.9.12

Annotations are currently only available as part of Insiders. You would need to become a sponsor to use them.

@squidfunk is it still the case that annotation sare ain INsiders feature? In the documentation this is now marked as a feature from version 9.2.0.

I was indeed using the material theme, but the annotations did not seem to work when doing mkdocs build but only when doing mkdocs serve.

I am afraid that without a minimal reproduction there is not much we can do. Best to start with a minimal project that works and then add in the other extensions and plugins you are using.

It is now working for me :), it is just that to see it in action locally one has to do mkdocs serve instead of mkdocs build.

Ok, I think that the annotation feature requires Javascript. If you are opening the site from your local filesystem it is possible that your browser does not load JavaScript. Some browsers on Windows do this, but I forgot which ones. The site should be fine once loaded from a web server.

It's a good idea to open the console and check for errors. See our documentation on what features do not work when viewed from the local file system. However, the offline plugin will make search work offline.
