This is the classic answer I don't like giving, but it's the only one I have:

How about not doing that? Instead, you could have a Handle that puts the lang in the Locals, which you can define in app.d.ts as normal. Everything besides that Handle pulls it from the locals. That Handle could also be responsible for redirecting wherever you want (like an error page, or your default lang page).

You can extend types from other packages. But i would not recommend it and use @jmagrippis solution instead.
