This initially began with me going through the existing translation and correcting awkward sentences—of which there were quite a few—but I quickly realized how outdated the localization file was. It lacked several strings that had either been added or modified since 2011, resulting in most of the interface actually remaining untranslated. What started as a simple editing pass turned into a comprehensive retranslation effort, involving the translation of all missing strings and a substantial rewrite of existing ones.
For better consistency within the translation itself and with other software, I used the Brazilian Portuguese translations for LibreOffice, Blender, and VLC as references. They were a great help for standardizing a lot of basic and key terminologies, as well as helping with some trickier terms.
I've tested it myself and I'm satisfied with the results. However, given the scope of the rewrite, it's very possible that some glaring issues passed me by or that some of my translations are less than ideal. Reviews from other Portuguese speakers would be greatly appreciated.
