syncmers?

Hi,

I was wondering if you considered using syncmers (I believe it's already implemented in minimap2) to map the genes between different species? I believe synmcers are specifically meant for higher conservation and I wonder if you'd see a performance improvement?

I think synmcers is a great alternative choice. I am not doing it now and am open to collaboration on that.
