## Public transit can save your life

Typically, [about twice as many New Yorkers walk or bike for transportation, compared to those who drive cars](../../data-explorer/walking-driving-and-cycling/?id=2236#display=summary). That time walking or cycling is associated with [decreases in mortality](https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11524-020-00510-1). This is good news for health!
