Features

WineStarter initial menu This is the main start window
User can choose between the main feature (Create) and secondary (Modify).
  • Create a New Wine prefix: Create a configuration file for a new prefix.
  • Edit a Wine bottle: Edit a configuration file for an already exiting prefix.
  • Edit or create a desktop file: Edit a existing prefix's desktop file or create one from scratch.
  • Change font colors: Edit YAD window fonts color and type. Adjust window width.
  • Restart features: Restart selected options (winecfg,etc)) for the chosen prefix.
  • Wine Bottles Management: Rename, clone, remove Wine prefix.

Known Issues

When found, unsolved issues will be announced here. Checked box are solved.

  • Some times, when reconfiguring a prefix config file, unchecked box in Main section menu are not re-inserted in the new configuration file. This is not fatal, but really anoying.
  • It happens that YAD crash when creating tabs for an unknown reason. Rare.

Known working Conf files

We post here all known games and applications working configuration files. Users are welcome to submit theirs through Github Pull request page. Let sharing.

All posted configuration files are usable whith just lauching winestarter knowing that default prefix directory is user's HOME. For this, use the model just below and send.

  • STEAM template. Wine 64bit prefix: Full working.
    • Wine 3.6-1-staging.
    • Intalled games:
      • Interstellar Marines.
      • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
      • Valkyria Chronicles.
  • Final Fantasy XIV Online template, Wine 64bit prefix: Full working.
    • Wine 1.9.23-1-staging (low hardware or high fps, could crash).
    • Wine 2.10-1-staging (stable, moderte fps).
    • Wine 3.1-devel, Wine 3.3-1-staging.
  • Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare template, Wine 32bit prefix: Full working, Bonus graphics.
    • Wine 3.7-1-staging.
  • Battle Field 3 template, Wine 64bit prefix: Full working DX11, Medium graphics.
    • Wine 3.7-1-staging.
  • Medal of Honor 2010 template, Wine 64bit prefix: Full working, High graphics, keys binding issues.
