12V Arduino Barrel Jack Wire Assembly

A ~21" long cable with a male barrel jack connector on one end and 2 wires on the other.

Labeled with "Arduino 12V" on manila tape.

From I.Cerda Thesis:

This assembly consists of a 21”-long cable connected to the Power Distribution Board on one end and a male barrel jack connector on the other end. It provides 12 V DC power to an Arduino Mega on the Arduino-Motor Shield Construct.

12V Buck Converter Power Wire Assembly

A short (~4" long) 2-conductor cable that runs between the Power Distribution Board Assembly's 12V and GND rails to the Buck Converter's input pins.

12V Visible Light Relay Power Wire Assembly

ERROR: This is wrong, it only connects from 12V to "COM", "NO" is connected to LED out barrel jack in series which runs back down to GND.

I suppose I could use the GND wire of this wire assembly for the male barrel jack breakout's GND.

An approximately 20" long 2-conductor cable that runs between the Power Distribution Board Assembly's 12V and GND rails to the Visible Light Relay's NO and COM pins.

Buck Converter to 9V Motorshield Power Wire Assembly

a 28" wire that connects the Buck Converter of the Circuit Panel Assembly's output to the Motorshield Assembly to supply 9V power.

Labeled "9V motors" with pink tape.

One side of the 28" wire has gray stripes, while the other side does not have stripes. The striped wire goes into the green plus input for the motorshield.

Power Distribution Board Assembly

Summary from I.Cerda Thesis:

One half a red Breadboard Mini takes in 12 V of DC input from the power supply and distributes it to an Arduino Mega 2564, a buck converter stepping down voltage for the Motor Shield Assembly, and a relay board controlling lighting in the box. The second half contains the Water Solenoid Valve Driving Circuit, which regulates the opening of solenoid valves for water dispensing.

Section 1: Solenoid Control Components These components occupy approximately half of the Red Solderable Breadboard Mini and serve to control the power to the two Solenoids used by the Water Subsystem.

  1. Components needed
  2. 1, Red Solderable Breadboard Mini
  3. 2, 10 kOhm resistors
  4. 2, black and amber (zener) diodes
  5. 2, mosfets (tube of these has blue ends)
  6. One end of each mosfet is bridged, the other not
  7. 4, Male 3-Pin Connector
  8. “sparkfun” side of breadboard mini should face upward
  9. Insert both mosfets on breadboard mini (in correct orientation)
  10. Tin the tip of the soldering iron
  11. Do not hold the soldering iron on mosfets for very long, to avoid heating them too much
  12. Switch between mosfet pins while soldering to minimize heating of them
  13. Attach resistors to breadboard mini
  14. First bend their legs
  15. Push into breadboard mini
  16. Solder in place
  17. Clip off excess legs
  18. Attach 2 black and amber (zener) diodes
  19. Black stripe faces mosfet
  20. Bend legs (be gentle since it’s delicate)
  21. Push into breadboard mini
  22. Solder in place
  23. Do not heat for too long
  24. Clip off excess legs
  25. Modify 2 of the 3 pin male connectors
  26. Remove white wire from each
  27. Push down with small flathead screwdriver on metal contact a
  28. Pull out white wire
  29. Strip away ends of red and green wires to expose more conductor
  30. Solder them onto breadboard mini
  31. Strip ends and solder unmodified 3 pin male connectors onto breadboard mini
